PR Manager

Job description

I am looking for a strong, organised and proactive PR Manager to work full-time directly under the chief communications officer.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident in PR, media relations, content, social media coordination, internal communications, reporting and day-to-day account management.

The right person needs to be hands-on, reliable and able to manage multiple moving parts without constant chasing.

The role will include:

• Managing daily PR, communications and campaign activity
• Distributing media releases, pitches, captions, newsletters, reports, articles, Q and As and client updates
• Liaising with journalists, editors, producers and media contacts
• Building and maintaining media lists
• Pitching stories and securing press coverage
• Coordinating media interviews and preparing briefing notes
• Supporting social media planning, content roll-outs and reporting
• Attending events, activations and site visits when needed
• Gathering content through interviews, research and client engagement
• Managing deadlines, approvals, reports and follow-ups
• Supporting internal communications, stakeholder updates and campaign delivery

Needs to be fluent is Afrikaans.

The position is full-time office based in Sandton.

Only candidates with relevant PR, communications, media or content experience will be considered.

Requirements

The person must have:

• Strong writing skills (although you will not be responsible for writing) 
• A good understanding of the South African media landscape
• Experience dealing with journalists and media contacts
• Excellent organisation and follow-through
• Attention to detail
• The ability to work under pressure
• A proactive, solution-focused attitude
• Confidence working with clients, stakeholders and internal teams
• Experience in PR, communications, media, marketing or journalism

This is a fast-paced role, so I need someone who can take ownership, ask the right questions, keep things moving and communicate clearly.
