The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (Wan-Ifra) has joined a number of international organisations to campaign for the adoption of a new UN Convention dedicated to the protection of media professionals.
The coalition includes representatives of journalists, media workers, broadcasters, and newspapers from around the globe.
The initiative was launched by the International Federation of Journalists and aims to rectify a gap in international law for binding norms establishing safeguards for journalists and media professionals.
