Summer sauvignons ready for sipping

Two new Sauvignon Blancs have been released in time for summer - the Clos Malverne Sauvignon Blanc 2011 and Matt Black Sauvignon Blanc 2011 from Bilton. Clos Malverne, at a retail price of R76 per bottle, is recommended with tempura prawns on a bed of rocket and coriander, salmon gravlax or your favourite line fish. The Matt Black white partners with the new Matt Black 2008 vintage, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, with a smattering of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Pinotage. The duo, with the definitive skull and crossed swords pirate's crest, retails at R95 for the red and R50 for the white.
