CT Tourism, CrescentRating launch Chef Exchange Programme
Cape Town Tourism and CrescentRating have launched a Chef Exchange Programme in an effort to train more local chefs on the preparation of Halal food. Two chefs from Singapore, Muhammad Kamal and Javed Ahamad, will train and educate 37 Cape Town chefs on Halal gourmet cuisine.
In exchange, Dion Vengatass from the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel and Tamsyn Wells from African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel won a trip to Singapore where they will learn more about gourmet Halal cuisine. The winners were announced at the Halal Foodie Feast and were selected on the basis of their skills, presentation and ability to innovate under pressure, which was illustrated by the three-course menu they presented as part of the cooking demonstration.
