Diageo, Unicer launch Guinness in Angola
Diageo and Unicer announced the partnership to manufacture, import and distribute Guinness in Angola.
Nick Blazquez, Africa managing director, Diageo, said, "Angola is a growing market and is already seven percent of the African beer market* and this is set to grow as the Angolan economy grows. We know that now is the right time to invest in Guinness as it is by far the most international beer brand across the continent and its success will certainly be felt in Angola through our partnership with Unicer."
António Pires de Lima, CEO, Unicer, said, "Angola is a strategic market for Unicer. We have an important investment project for an industrial unit with local partners and our beer brands have the Angolan consumer's preferences. Guinness will be a fantastic addition to our brands and we know that the people of Angola will come to love Guinness and make for truly great occasions to enjoy a Guinness in Angola."
Guinness Original will be supported by a television and outdoor advertising campaign. 300 outlets will be supported with point of sale materials to raise awareness of the new brand in Angola, including branded fridges and training of bar staff.
