Internship programme for ad industry
Chairman of the Creative Circle, Brett Morris, said that the internship programme would support and mentor the students, who will be placed at top agencies across the country and the AAA bursary programme would provide 50% of the tuition for students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
"The future of the creative industry in this country is heavily dependent on us nurturing and managing the talent we have today and it's important for us as stakeholders to play an active role. As a body we are focusing much of our time and resources towards this effort," commented Morris.
Neo Mashigo, head of The Creative Circle education sub-committee, interviewed and selected the students, who begin their internship this month. "It's really important that the industry helps to mentor young talent and give them an opportunity to work in a real agency environment," said Mashigo. "If the candidates apply themselves and show potential, we're hoping to extend their internships and ultimately to get them employed by the agencies on a full time basis."
The Creative Circle also thanked Primedia Unlimited, sponsors of the Ad of the Year and Ad of the Month, for its generous contribution that has made these initiatives possible.
