Cinema attendance increases
According to the 2010 cinema attendance figures of over 27,4 million visitors, last year was the best year for cinema since 2005, a good omen for Cinemark, representing 64% of all cinema complexes in South Africa and its advertising clients. Reasons cited include blockbuster titles, 3D offerings and a recovering recession.
The forecast for 2011 is also optimistic - 3D mania is expected to continue to grow with just about every blockbuster offering a heightened cinema experience, the somewhat resistant recession has begun to abate and there are big titles expected including the animated Rango, with Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Just go with it and Cars 2.
