The nomination makes her the first female film composer to be nominated for this award this century. Since its release, the soundtrack has won Best Film Score at the Moondance Festival and the Accolade Award for excellence. It was also nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award.

SKIN tells the story of Sandra Laing, a black woman born to white parents in the apartheid era. The film follows Sandra's thirty-year old journey from rejection to acceptance, betrayal to reconciliation, as she struggles to define her place in a changing world - and triumphs against all odds.

Starring award-winning Sophie Okonedo, Sam Neill, Alice Krige, Tony Kgoroge and Ella Ramangwane, SKIN is produced by Anthony Fabian, Genevieve Hofmeyr and Margaret Matheson, and directed by Anthony Fabian. The film's release in South Africa is supported by The History Channel, Ster-Kinekor, United Independent Pictures (UIP), Mail & Guardian and Next Entertainment with the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) as the official distributor.
