Sowetan editor on special leave
Avusa Media released a short statement this morning, Wednesday, 2 February 2011, that it has placed Bongani Keswa, editor of the Sowetan, on special leave today. Thabo Leshilo, the group's public editor, will stand in as acting editor.
Stated Mondli Makhanya, Avusa Media editor-in-chief, "Leshilo is a former editor-in-chief of Sowetan and Sunday World and has in-depth knowledge of the newspaper's market."
