Newspaper distribution conference in Turkey

DARMSTADT, GERMANY: The 4th International Conference for Newspaper Distribution entitled “Managing Distribution” will take place on 31 May and 1 June 2007 in the Hotel Barceló Eresin Topkapi in Istanbul. This conference – a joint event of the distribution and media trade magazines dnv and press business and Ifra – is being held for the first time in Turkey.

Erdem Top, deputy president of the Turkish Dunya Group, will kick-off the conference with a “Focus on Turkey”. Experts from Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Brazil and the US will present the latest trends in newspaper distribution and discuss the daily challenges they face.

The first day (Thursday, 31 May) of the conference will cover “Subscription-based distribution models” and “Single copy distribution”; the second day (Friday, 1 June) will report about “Distribution of preprints” and “Freesheet distribution”.

Not to be missed is a look at the Danish freesheet distribution model. Jesper Larsen, project manager at 24timer, will give conference delegates an insight into the challenges of combining paid-for newspaper distribution with freesheet distribution.

Conference moderators are Sari Simola of Sari Simola Publishing Consulting in Switzerland and Mike Newman, group circulation director of Associated Newspapers in the UK. All presentations will be simultaneously interpreted into English and German.
