Daily Dispatch's website redesigned, optimised for mobile devices

The website of Times Media's East London-based Daily Dispatch newspaper, DispatchLIVE, has a bold new look, following an extensive redesign. Its technology has also been upgraded to the latest version to ensure optimal speed, performance and security and is optimised for mobile devices.

Daily Dispatch editor Sibusiso Ngalwa says, “We are excited about our new website, as it allows us to provide more visually appealing content to our readers – and fast.”

The website has been attracting a rising number of new readers with its mix of news, features and opinion about East London, the Eastern Cape, and surrounds, including politics, business, sport, entertainment, a spotlight on local heroes. According to industry measurement tool, Effective Measure, DispatchLIVE recorded 212,471 unique visitors in June 2016, a 66.5% increase since June 2015.

“The user-friendly new website allows for better use of striking images and places additional emphasis on video at a time when Times Media is ramping up its multimedia reporting capacity across the group,” says Lisa MacLeod, head of digital at Times Media.

Navigation is quick and simple, with its social media streams featuring prominently on the website’s home page. The Facebook community (already more than 60,000 strong) and Twitter following are growing rapidly. Readers can also share their views through comments on articles.
