Winelands restaurant launches new bite-size menu
96 Winery Road has launched its new Degustation Menu, with the aim to add a sublime twist to food and wine pairings at this renowned Winelands restaurant.
Baby beetroot salad
The new tasting menu of six mouthful-portions highlight the eatery's most popular dishes since its opening in 1996, while paying tribute to its co-founders, Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert, with each dish matched with one of their prized wines.
The new menu includes baby beetroot salad with dukha goat's cheese matched with the Ken Forrester Sauvignon Blanc 2008; wild mushroom tarte tatin with Forrester's Petit Chenin Blanc 2008; spicy calamari with his latest vintage Chenin Blanc; marinated quail paired with the Shiraz Grenache 2004; and the old time favourite, ‘Hollandse' pepper fillet served with Martin Meinert's classic Bordeaux blend, Devon Crest 2004.
“96 Winery Road has produced a number of gourmet gems over the past few years. Dishes that have stood the test of time and still whet discerning appetites from around the world. This new menu offers a nostalgic journey of what we perceive is the Full Monty of 96 Winery Road classics, presented in a single dining experience,” says Forrester.
