Cadburys SA's interactive campaigns; Clorets fresh approach

Activation specialist thewinwingroup has produced two interactive campaigns on behalf of Cadburys South Africa. The first was the Chappies ‘Did You Know' school quiz, which kicked off in February 2010 and is touring the country, the other was a staged ‘protest' of onion and garlic eaters met by the Fresh Breath Police, demonstrating the power of Clorets.

The Chappies tour, an educational skit on the different cultural heritages of the world visited Charter Primary School in the Alexander community in Johannesburg in the final section of its country tour. It will round up the roadshow after the April holidays at various schools in Pretoria and East Rand.

A giant inflatable globe travelled with the team allowing children to see which countries will be visiting South Africa, what makes them unique and “where in the world they are.” At the end of each show, children are split into teams for the quiz with loads of branded stationery prizes up for grabs.

“This campaign aims to broaden children's knowledge by being fun, relevant and educational. We hope that we will spark excitement and encourage each child to welcome all our visitors and be well informed young South African hosts,” says Alistair Mokoena, Cadbury South Africa marketing director - Candy & Gum.

Top local entertainer and moral mentor Pastor Jacobus T Mbhobho is a firm believer in the power of Clorets and is so committed to the crusade for freshness, that he recently joined the Fresh Breath Police in an effort to control a protest by indignant onion and garlic lovers.

This is a dedicated group of men patrolling congested commuter zones during March and April 2010 in an effort to ensure that South Africans have the freshest fresh breath, wherever they might be, whatever the time of day.

Using the Clorets BreathOmeter, a breathalyser that is specifically designed to test freshness, they will assess the state of the nation's ‘freshness', and leave only when everyone they meet is declared ‘fresh, fresh'!

The protest took place at the Dobsonville shopping complex in Johannesburg on 27 March 2010, with demonstrators loudly demanding their right to eat onion and garlic, whenever and wherever they pleased.

Fortunately, the Fresh Breath Police were on hand to control the situation, proving to the crowd using the trusty BreathOmeter that the breath freshening power of the brand will leave even the staunchest garlic and onion lover with fresh breath.

Clorets was recently relaunched in an affordable two-piece pack, selling for 50c around the nation.
