Making dreams a reality

Any dream, anytime, anywhere – O, The Oprah Magazine, SABC3 and Santam are searching the country for big dreams, unique dreams and even tiny dreams – as long as they are dreams that will make a difference in the lives of South Africans. “Since the call for entries, more than 4600 readers have shared their dreams for a better future with us,” says Thami Ngubeni, editor of O.

Launched in August 2007 in O, The Oprah Magazine and on SABC3, the Dream Big SA campaign will see 10 South Africans winning their ultimate dream with the backing of Santam.

Adds Ngubeni, “It's been fascinating reading through the entries. We asked our readers to dream big, and most have – but it's humbling to see the wishes of the smaller dreamers and how they believe the things some may take for granted, will change their lives substantially.”

The Dream Big Team has started collating all dreams and the first winner will be profiled in the November 2007 issue of O and on SABC3. But that doesn't mean the dreaming must stop. Interested dreamers are invited to submit their dreams through O telephonically via +27 (0)83 900 DREAM (+27 (0)83 900 37326), by emailing or www.dreambigsa.co.za. The website also provides additional information on Dream Big South Africa.

“We are thrilled to be working on a project with the vision of making a difference in the lives of South Africans – to make dreams come true,” says SABC3 marketing manager Dineo Mondlane. “We transmit to over 7.4 million viewers daily and it's exciting to share something as big as this with them. By sharing their dreams with us, they stand a chance of seeing their dreams come true and sharing the realisation of these dreams with the whole country.”

Adds Jeanne Fouché, brand manager at Santam. “What's really inspiring and different about Dream Big SA is that it encourages people to dream about their future and possibly make their dream a reality! Time and time again it's been proven that the first step to success begins with a dream.”
