Gender fail for UKZN managers
These were the Commission for Gender Equality's preliminary findings into transformation at the university presented in Johannesburg on Thursday, 19 January.
UKZN vice-chancellor Albert van Jaarsveld appeared before the commission to answer questions.
The commission's legal officer, Mlondolozi Vava, said women were poorly represented in top management at the university.
At senior management level there were 24 male and only 15 female employees.
In addition, the university only had 60 female professors and associate professors compared with 164 men.
Vava said the university communicated its sexual harassment policy poorly, with the commission unable to find evidence of campaigns to combat sexual harassment.
