The Body Shop's Big Issue

The Body Shop has sponsored a second mobile unit for The Big Issue, to the value of R100 000. These funds will be used to purchase a vehicle and recruit a distribution Operator who will supplement the 2 000 magazines already sold monthly by mobile unit one.

Carol Poolton of The Body Shop South Africa says: "We are proud to be able to support The Big Issue in increasing distribution and our store teams are excited about donning a Big Issue bib to support the vendors."

The second Mobile Unit will recruit and service 10 new vendors in the northern Suburbs of Cape Town, which will ensure the sustainability of The Big Issue as well as provide a sustainable income to unemployed people in desperate circumstances.

This year Body Shop store teams' community projects will focus on The Big Issue Organisation and participating in their volunteer programme which includes adopting a vendor by offering encouragement and moral support as well as food and toiletry parcels.
