Trust no one... Survivor SA announced
The programming coup was announced by M-Net in a somewhat unprecedented satellite media conference from its Johannesburg studios. Media from Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth were included in the broadcast.
M-Net director: original productions, Carl Fischer, said many agonizing months had gone into getting the rights to create a homegrown version of the popular reality TV show. "We spent many months in debate, scouring TV schedules around the world to see what was capturing the imagination of viewers globally... before deciding on Survivor South Africa, with South African contestants on an exotic island... somewhere in the world!"
That location has been revealed as Panama's Pearl Islands and entries will be available in selected media from Friday: You/Huisgenoot, Drum, City Press and Sunday Times. There are places for 14 contestants.
The show is being brought to South Africa by M-Net Original Productions, together with Endemol South Africa, and will be broadcast from Sunday, 27 August 2006. Oracle Airtime Sales will shortly be going to market for a headline sponsor.
