New series of Vuk'uzenzele

Sisanda Henna and Vuyi Matomane are the hosts of a new series of Vuk'uzenzele, which showcases entrepreneurs who have taken the first step, no matter how small, to participate in the South African economy.

Henna featured as Andile in SABC Education's drama series Tsha Tsha, where he gained ballroom dancing skills and helped create an awareness of dealing with HIV and Aids in rural communities. Matomane has been a presenter on various programmes and has worked extensively in the field of AIDS awareness and education.

Vuk'uzenzele encourages people to start a business and educates entrepreneurs on how to grow and sustain their businesses. The programme encourages the unemployed and those in business to broaden their horizons and take advantage of opportunities that lie ahead.

Vuk'uzenzele is broadcast on SABC1 on Sundays at 1pm and repeated on Wednesdays at 2pm. The TV series is supported by radio broadcasts on all SABC's indigenous language stations. Vuk'uzenzele training videos and booklets are distributed to SMME training centres countrywide.

"Vuk'uzenzele provides the public with knowledge and enhances sustainable development. We hope the series will assist and equip communities with practical skills that will empower them to improve their lives," says SABC Education's public editor Pontsho Makhetha.

The show is sponsored by the Eskom Development Foundation and Hollard insurance and produced by Kagiso Educational Television.
