Happy first birthday, Home Channel!

The Home Channel is celebrating its first birthday with America's Style Network 'The Brini Maxwell Show', in which cult drag queen and domestic diva Brini Maxwell shares décor tips and handy household hints; the UK series 'How to be a Property Developer'; and local show, 'Betterbond Celebrity Homes', which takes one behind the scenes and into the homes of South African celebrities.

"We are delighted to have secured the rights for some of the world's top décor, gardening, home lifestyle and property shows, and we'll continue to scour the international scene for the best and most successful shows to bring to our local audience," says The Home Channel's executive producer, Jill de Villiers.

Following on the success of local show 'African Living', The Home Channel is planning several new local shows, including gardening and DIY.

In pre-production is 'My Makeover', in which viewers are actively engaged. They are asked to tell The Home Channel about their home, room or garden makeovers in a brief covering letter, accompanied by digital photographs or video material. Out of these, The Home Channel will make a selection and choose one home to visit with its own crews each week - to meet the owners, film their homes and tell their stories. This show will be screened from mid-July.

The Home Channel was the first local channel dedicated to design, décor, home improvement and property.
