RAF celebrates Mandela Day countrywide
On 17 July, the RAF will be participating in the Stop Hunger Now SA's Million Meal Challenge and 67 blankets for Mandela Day, amongst other initiatives.
Various activities have also been lined-up by the RAF staff in regional offices to celebrate Mandela Day.
Whilst the RAF will join millions locally and internationally in celebrating the late Nobel Peace prize winner's selflessness, the RAF extends this goodwill throughout the year by taking services to the people, heightening public advocacy, and encouraging everyone to make road safety their responsibility.
Efficient service
Phumelela Dhlomo, RAF chief marketing officer, said the RAF was honoured to play its part in Mandela Day and would continue to serve the public by providing services countrywide timeously and efficiently.
Meanwhile, the RAF will also continue to support the transport department's initiatives, including the child-restraint awareness campaign and scholar safety, because an average annual 16,000 death toll on South Africa's roads cannot be left to authorities alone.
On 27 July, the Deputy Minister of Transport, Sindisiwe Chikunga, will conclude RAF's activities at a handing over ceremony of 16 specialised wheelchairs to KwaZamokuhle School for the Disabled, and school shoes to deserving learners from Ephangweni Primary School in Estcourt, KwaZulu-Natal.
