The Talk Radio 702 audio archive, which has just been launched, allows listeners to purchase a two-hour session for R25, which is debited to their mobile phone account. Once a session has been purchased, listeners can browse by topic, using the 'Heard on Air' option, or they can use a manual search to find audio from a specific date and time.

Once the audio has been found, listeners can stream and download the clip simultaneously, for up to two hours. Audio clips are downloadable in 30 minute segments, with up to eight clips permitted to be downloaded in the two-hour session.

The comprehensive audio archive contains all on-air content from the station for the preceding three months.

"We are continually receiving requests for audio clips of various on-air discussions," explained station manager, Pheladi Gwangwa, "Some are from listeners who missed a discussion, others from those who were interviewed and would like a copy and we also get requests from businesses who want to monitor their competitors' activity on the station."

"We have been testing the system, live, for three weeks," added Primedia Broadcasting COO, Ryan Till, who spearheaded the project. "Without publicising it at all, over 100 sessions have been purchased already and we feel confident that this is going to be very popular with the station's listeners."

The audio archive is offered in addition to the many podcasts that the station currently offers, which offer listeners a key selection of highlights from each show. The audio archive encompasses all on-air content, from any show, at any time, except for the music programming such as Solid Gold, the Bandstand or any other music broadcast on the radio station.
