New radio packages to reach 20-somethings

SABC Radio has announced a groundbreaking concept called MG5, which harnesses the existing power of three commercial radio stations to offer advertisers direct access to the lucrative 20- to 30-year-old market.

The MG5 package brings together three of the most popular radio stations in the country - Metro FM, Good Hope FM and 5 FM. The primary aim is to boost sales by tapping into existing marketing and programming opportunities offering brands greater ad value. These radio stations speak daily to the trendy, affluent, cosmopolitan target market of 20-somethings. The MG5 team has prepared a number of competitive packages with excellent resources to hand including creative production, consumer intelligence, and production facilities.

Comments the SABC's Eugene Zwane, "MG5 has been designed to enable advertisers to take ownership of this highly-defined sector, which has more in common than ever before. These individuals are now being given the same, equal opportunities and have similar lifestyles and preferences. It is this development, which provided us with the 'backbone' for the unique MG5 platform."

A dedicated MG5 sales force has been appointed, comprising individuals who, themselves, fall into the target market and live that lifestyle. They have a deep understanding of the MG5 stations and only sell across these three. They also aim to sell brands rather than stations. "The MG5 promise is that of professionalism, efficiency, quick turnaround times and outstanding customer service. No client is too big or too small to benefit from the MG5 offering," says Zwane.

He explains that advertiser's products, which are promoted on 5FM, Good Hope FM and Metro FM are enhanced, due to the credibility and popularity of the DJs.
