Your CREW (Children's Radio Education Workshop) needs you!

Applications are now open for both participants and facilitators in Bush Radio's Children's Radio Education Workshop project. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, 24 February 2009.

The project aims to develop young people's critical thinking and practical skills, equipping them better for the future.

The facilitator's job is to provide guidance and ensure that the children in the group are prepared for their programme. To become a CREW facilitator, you need to be over the age of 20 and prepared to work on a volunteer basis. A radio background is not necessary as training will be provided.

The participants are children aged between six and 18, who come to Bush Radio to learn the ins and outs of broadcasting, including writing, research and presentation skills. They learn technical skills and broadcast journalism skills, as well as life skills, such as teamwork, critical thinking and political awareness through their interaction with each other and their listeners.

CREW takes place at Bush Radio from 9am - 2pm every Saturday, except on days when the participants have an outside broadcast or other excursions.
