    Parties free to air

Political parties contesting the elections are being given a free political advertisement and party election broadcast (PEB) on the SABC's radio stations.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) said on Thursday that the parties contesting the national and selected provincial elections will have their PEBs broadcast on the four national and regional stations that broadcast in the relevant provinces.

The political parties would be responsible for producing their own two-minute long PEB to sell their election campaign. The parties have been allocated 132 PEB slots starting from 9 March to 10 April, with each radio station broadcasting four PEB slots per day between 6am and 6pm.
