No more trips down Memory Lane

Jill Stewart, Algoa FM's Down Memory Lane presenter, will be hanging up her headphones in November 2006 after almost 21 years of broadcasting. Algoa FM programme manager Alfie Jay says the announcement of Stewart's retirement from the airwaves comes on the back of the station's repositioning of its weekend line-up.

This change is scheduled for mid-November, but no definite date has been determined. Jay adds: "Although listeners can't go down memory lane without Jill Stewart, they can still expect a show featuring classic hits from the golden era on Sunday mornings."

Stewart joined the regional radio station in 1986 and quickly became one of the station's most popular presenters. She has been synonymous with the station's Down Memory Lane - one of South Africa's longest running radio shows - which she hosts on Sunday mornings. She is also a popular personality at events.
