Gilly TV to air on TV and radio simultaneously

Gillman lovers and loathers, take heed: tomorrow, Thursday, 6 July 2006, DJ Mark Gillman will debut his new live simulcast interactive program, Gilly TV, on both 5FM and DStv Channel Go from the M-Net studios in Randburg. The idea is the culmination of a concept first piloted in 1999 at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and follows on from the more recent "Gillman, Make Us Famous!" which was filmed for Go, and presented on 5FM's breakfast show in 2005.

The transition of 5FM's sound into television pictures is an exciting moment, says 5FM station manager Helen Graham, "It is a natural step for us exploring the possibilities of new technologies, and it is fitting that it is Mark Gillman that continues to break new ground in radio."

With Gillman having only recently given up his breakfast show on 5FM, his involvement with the station continues in many capacities, but the freedom of a night time slot presents several opportunities, says Gillman. "There's nothing like Gilly TV in SA. I just opened a new can of "why not?". Imagine what this will mean for media placement? Please NO passengers; Gilly TV is pictures for people who love to dance to the radio!"

The show will be simulcast on DSTV's Channel 84 and on 5FM between 9pm and 10pm every Thursday from 6 July 2006. Audiences can expect the best of Gillman's whacked-out world compressed into a jam-packed hour of hot music, compelling interviews, Danger Boy mania and live interaction via SMS.

Gilly TV is being co-produced by ground-breaking multi-platform production company, Don't Look Down and TMGS Creative.

The co-operation between 5FM and Go is a natural fit, says Go general manager, Helen Smit, "This was right up our alley as we are always on the look out for shows that keep our very adventurous audience hooked. Mark brings a very credible edge to the show and we can't wait to see the show take-off."

"Gilly TV will present exciting content for delivery on all Go and 5FM's platforms, so keep an eye out for additional web video, mobile elements and other interactive features," concludes co-producer, Glenn van Loggerenberg.
