Motorists warned of road closures around Parliament

Temporary road closures will come into effect around the Parliamentary precinct in Cape Town on today to accommodate President Jacob Zuma's State of the Nation Address.

The State of the Nation Address will also be a full ceremonial occasion, involving a mounted police escort and a military ceremonial motor escort, a national salute by the Ceremonial Guard of the SANDF, a military band, a salute flight by the South African Air Force and a 21-gun salute.

From 4pm until midnight, the Nelson Mandela Boulevard: Strand Street off-ramp will be closed along with parts of Strand, Adderley, Wale, Spin, Parliament, Plein and Bereau streets.

Government Avenue will be closed off completely from 11am.

Motorists are urged to check for road closures and parking restrictions throughout the day in order to avoid being inconvenienced by delays.
