Aguilera for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards

Christina Aguilera will be taking the stage at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, shortly before the release of her new album “Bionic” on 8 June along with a host of big-name presenters. The awards premiere live on MTV (DStv Channel 321) on Monday, 7 June, 2010, at 3am and on MTV base (DStv Channel 322) on Monday, 7 June, at 10pm.

Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Shaun White, Vanessa Hudgens, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Russell Brand are the first presenters to be announced.

With 30 million albums sold worldwide and the honour of being the only artist under the age of 30 included in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the 100 greatest singers of all time, five-time Grammy Award-winner Christina Aguilera will be releasing “Bionic” on 8 June, 2010. “Bionic” features songs co-written by Aguilera along with collaborations with Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre, Hill & Switch, and Ladytron, among others.

Outrageous new awards

Continuing its tradition for being one of the most shocking and atypical awards shows on television, this year's show will feature three all-new and outrageous awards categories that include “Biggest Bad-ass Star”, “Best Scared As S**t Performance” and “Global Superstar”. For the first time ever in Movie Awards history, voting will go international as fans worldwide will be able to vote for their favorite global stars in the “Global Superstar” category by visiting their local MTV websites.

The final nominees for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards will be decided on by the fans. From 29 March to 9 April, viewers can go to www.mtvbase.com and follow the link to vote their favorite films, movie moments and actors into the final list of nominees. Then, the winner voting period commences from 12 May to 5 June.

The awards will be available to a potential viewing audience of more than 1.2 billion people via MTV's global network of 64 channels, reaching 641 million households around the world. In addition, its convergent programming and content will reach the entire interactive community, via MTV's 200+ digital media properties around the world.
