The err of errs

I thought Valentine's Day was over, but it seems that in April, fools rush in. The Accidental Husband is another cliché with a difference that tries to steer away from the conventional except there isn't any way around a typical romantic comedy no matter how you disguise it.
The err of errs

So there's this radio talkshow host, Dr Emma Lloyd (Uma Thurman), the love doctor who has a sensible view on relationships and then advises one of her callers to break up with her boyfriend Patrick Sullivan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), of course not in so many words, but it inevitably leads to a jilted ex who now wants revenge on the doctor responsible for inaugurating his fate so effortlessly. So he sets about doing just that with his techno-savvy neighbour to help him give the doctor a taste of her own medicine.

Everyone knows that the love doctor is about to get married in New York City Hall, to her fiancé Richard (Colin Firth) but when they arrive there she finds out that she is already married...to Patrick. Mistake? I think not. The City Hall with its quick hitches didn't come without the glitches and now Emma needs to fix this horrible error the system has pronounced.

She has to track down her ‘husband' and get an annulment before the wedding except Patrick is playing along with the ruse and enjoying the turn of events with an increasing attraction to her. Emma's fiancé grows increasingly wary about the situation and the love doctor finds herself at the end of her own dubious romantic advice about relationships.
