Hilton Schilder at The Rainbow Room
South African jazz pianist, Hilton Schilder, together with Errol Dyers and Steve Newman will be performing at The Rainbow Room in Mandela Rhodes Place on Saturday, 25 September 2010 at 8pm. It is a rare performance as Schilder was recently been diagnosed with cancer.
Having inherited his musical talent from this father, Schilder has been playing music since the age of three. He performed in numerous groups from a young age, including jazz bands, carnival troupes, disco bands and hip-hop groups. As an adult he was the founding member of the Cape Jazz Group, The Geniuses, alongside Mac Mackenzie, Gerard O'Brien and Ian Herman.
A man of many talents
Schilder is not only a well-known pianist, but is a successful composer, artist, sculptor, writer and multi-instrumentalist. He has been a part of the international and national South African music scene for decades and his music appears on more than 23 albums, apart from six of his own.
The Rainbow Room is located in The Rainbow Experience in Mandela Rhodes Place, Church Street, Cape Town. Tickets cost R60 per person and can be booked through www.webtickets.co.za. For more information call +27 (0)21 422 1828.
