Ashtray Electric, Pretty Blue Guns at Kirstenbosch

Ashtray Electric, winner of the MK Award 2009 for Best Newcomer, bring a fresh new sound to the stage. A delicate mixture of foot-tapping beats and rolling riffs. Their very own identity of music is inspired by a large selection of musical styles and genres.

The Pretty Blue Guns started playing together when they entered a high school Battle of The Bands competition. Described as “gritty blues rock”, their influences range from early Robert Johnson era blues, to Tom Waits, to the more recent acts The Black Keys and Kings Of Leon, and everywhere in between.

The Old Mutual Summer Sunset Concerts take place at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden (Rhodes Avenue, Newlands, Cape Town) on Sundays from 5.30pm - 6.45pm.
