Second helping from Fire Through The Window

Durban-based pop/rock band, Fire Through The Window, have released a follow up to their 2007 eponymous debut album. Entitled “Hey!”, it features 11 newly recorded tracks, some of which were singles from the original release.

“Sinead and I recorded the first album in a couple of weeks, never expecting it to be released, I even played the drums on the album! Now that it's no longer available we felt it necessary to include some of the tracks on the new album, re-recorded with the full band, so that people get to hear them and they don't disappear entirely,” said Marc De La Querra, band co-founder.

“Hey!” takes you on a journey through the lives of co-vocalists and couple, De La Querra and Sinead Dennis, touching on themes of growing up, life, love and the mid-20s.

Official song and video

Originally a two-piece outfit, Fire Through The Window recorded their first album in 2007 on a whim as a pet project, only to be greeted with unexpected success. Their first single, Just Like You Are, was selected as the official song and video of the Apple iPod Nano television campaign and went all the way to the top 10 of national charts, securing them four national tours in 2008 and slots at festivals like Splashy Fen, Oppikoppi, Rocking The Daisies and Woodstock. Shortly after, their label at the time closed its doors and effectively their album became a limited edition.

The band have just completed the music video for the first single, Do Do Do, and will be continuously moving around South Africa in the next few months promoting the new album. Collectively the full band contains massive experience with Marc being the ex-Nemesis (later Nemesis Army) frontman and Peter, the lead guitarist, having been a key member of the original Love Jones line-up.
