Airport Security and Macgyver Knife at Dizzy's
We were eased gently into the evening with the sweet acoustic sound of Airport security. The band, made up of members Zayd Carelse (Vocals, Guitar), Riaz Patel (Guitar), Taufeeq Khan (Keyboard) took to the stage in earnest and pulled off a pretty decent show, all while knowing they had big shoes to fill.
If you dig alternative rock bands such as Matchbox 20, Counting crows and Coldplay, then do yourself a favour and checkout Airport Security. All agreed, we would like to see more of you guys. Here's the link to their MySpace profile: http://www.myspace.com/airportsecuritysa
And now onto the main act for the evening. No suprises here. Macgyver Knife pulled off another outstanding performance. Working a small slither of a stage, the band rocked hard into the night, showing their adaptability to different venues. All the while keeping their sound intact and honed to perfection, showing the makings of a band destined for greatness.
Lead singer Mishal was up to his usual antics, bouncing around the stage and entertaining the crowd. He even had time to smoke a cigarette between a song! With each and every song a crowd pleaser and not a dry seat in the house, it was not surprising to hear shouts for encore at the end of the show. And with that we were fortunate enough to get a taste of one of their new tracks.
We eagerly await the Lauch of their EP, set for release in December. If you would like to keep up to date with the Knife, you can find them on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/macgyverknife, and Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4878782909.
It's clearly been “The Year of the Knife”.
