Now the Levi's® Vintage Sundays spirit has entrenched itself in the hearts of music lovers all over Mzansi. Throughout the country Sundays are no longer an ending, but the starting point for an incredible evening packed with the best local bands pumping out their uniquely styled, totally homegrown sounds. Thanks to this commitment to South African sounds, the Levi's® brand has become synonymous with fresh, quality local music. And Levi's® Vintage Sundays is its flagship project - an incredible, diverse and thriving celebration of everything exciting on our musical landscape.

In the past five years the iconic jeans brand has hosted an incredible 160 shows all over the country and in May 2009; Levi's® Vintage Sundays will enter its sixth year. There have been many legendary performances, surprise collaborations; rock ‘n' roll moments and eye-opening antics. Our musical royalty, from across genres, has taken this opportunity to give some of their most memorable shows. And it has always been for free, proving that the Levi's® brand is committed to keeping Mzansi in touch with its musical icons, and ensuring that these stars connect with their fans.

So, if you can remember back to what Sunday life was like a half decade ago you're probably smiling knowingly to yourself right now. Nowadays it's all about Levi's® Vintage Sundays, and the incredible status that this series of events has garnered over the years. The sixth edition is going to be as incredible, as uncompromising, as inspiring as ever before. Get your excuses ready for being late on Monday mornings. You're going to need them.

Kicking off the line-up with a bang at Crazy 88 in Norwood, Johannesburg on May 3rd, Levi's® have put together some of SA' top female performers.

Laurie Levine is fast building a reputation as an artist with a fresh approach and unique sound. A prolific songwriter with a jazzy, soulful voice that breathes life into her songs and embodies the emotional core of her lyrics. Laurie performs locally and internationally from Switzerland, New York and London. Having previously performed at the Levi's® Vintage Sundays, she is a firm favourite of the people.

Having released four albums to date, Karen Zoid which has allowed her to impact the South African music scene with real force - occupying a terrain that holds few competitors. Having cleaved onto the music scene in 2001, coined some really prestigious awards and performed at some of the most talked about in the country is what makes Karen Zoid stand far above most South African female musicians.

With the release of her debut album in 2006, Josie Field has been touring South Africa almost constantly - performing on over 400 stages including all the major festivals, supporting James Blunt's SA tour and the 2008 Reconciliation Day Concert at The Union Buildings to name a few. With a South African Music Award nomination for the coveted ‘Female Artist of the Year' this year, this sister is on a way up.
