#MusicExchange: Timo ODV
Hailing from Kempton Park, the world is his playground, with a busy December ahead. I caught up with this talented artist last week to find out what music means to him and more…
What does music mean to you?
Music is my addiction.
Have you experienced any funny moments on stage?
A few… Sometimes people get too hyped and climb onto the stage. This one time a lady was just grabbing the wrong things and so a small bar fridge fell onto her.
The other time, I forgot the words to a song so just stood there and said “I forgot it guys, you guys sing. I’ll join you in verse two.”
Then there’s also been the random occasion when the song drops, and I forgot that I cut the bass – the song then becomes messy.
Who are your heroes?
John Mayer, Ryan Leslie, Stimming, Gorgon City and Franky Rizardo.
It’s your round, what are you drinking?
CBC Weiss, but only one – can’t drink more than one beer. That’s what happens when you only start drinking beer at age 27.
The song you wished you wrote?
Childish Gambino - Redbone
If you were not a musician what would you do?
Make Marvel movies.
Pick five words to describe yourself?
Mellow
Strange
Unpredictable
Pensive
Dreamer
What is your favorite fashion garment?
Leopard print thong.
Give us some real proper slang and what it means
Jassis boet that is well-lit ey
What would you say is your greatest achievement?
Doing what I love without selling out.
What do you complain about most often?
Overly commercialised music that has no soul and no culture and not having chicken soup in the fridge.
What is your fear?
Not achieving all of my dreams.
What do you tend to do on stage?
Wonder why there are always those two people in the front that are staring and not dancing, and then off stage, I wonder why they are the first to come up to me and tell me “great set”.
If you are walking on stage for a keynote speech alla Barak Obama what song would you use and why?
Stephan Bodzin – Singularity. Because no matter the situation, you must educate people about the beautiful genre of techno.
Where would you like to be right now?
Exactly where I am, on my couch-watching Marvel.
