True Music Africa launches four-city tour
Boiler Room and Ballantine’s True Music platform champions artists with a pioneering spirit, challenging them to continue pushing boundaries. True Music Africa will tell the stories of varied music scenes sweeping the continent via compelling documentaries and live-streamed parties.
“Africa is full of diverse sounds and artists pioneering creativity. As the influence from a vast range of music genres across the continent is increasingly felt in European and American production, global tastemakers are looking towards their thriving underground scenes for inspiration. Our previous shows in Cape Town and Johannesburg with Boiler Room were some of the most sonically exciting we’ve had the pleasure of working on. So, this time around we’re looking forward to going back and getting even deeper under the skin of diverse nightlife cultures with True Music artists,” said Patrick Venning, Ballantine’s marketing director.
The Cape Town show features some of the country’s most well-respected original self-starters, including:
- K$
- Dope Saint Jude
- Youngsta CPT
- Aux Womdantso
- DJ Lyle
Boiler Room x Ballantine’s True Music Africa follows the success of the recent global True Music projects, headlined by Maya Jane Coles and Seth Troxler, as well as multiple visits to South Africa together. The project will be the first time Boiler Room have hosted their signature broadcast events in Cameroon or Kenya.
“We're very excited to be taking our partnership with Ballantine's to Africa to celebrate pioneers of new sounds across four territories. Our vision for this project has been to work with artists who have crafted not just the sound, but often the ground up infrastructure of hyper-local music communities as well,” added Blaise Bellville, Boiler Room founder and CEO.
