Classical meets pop at Valentine under the Stars

The Valentine under the Stars open-air concert at the Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town, is to return on Valentine's Day 2015. On Saturday, 14 February, internationally acclaimed musicians will perform alongside the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra to create a 'classical meets pop' concert filled with love and romance.

Following the success of the inaugural concert, which took place earlier in 2014, Valentine under the Stars 2015 will be bigger, better and even more magical. Performances will include internationally recognised South African soprano Magdalene Minnaar, who has entertained audiences across the globe with her exceptional voice.

Sharing the stage is Selim Kagee, South Africa's premier classical crossover artist. With an amazing repertoire, Selim Kagee is renowned for performing classics and all-time favourites.

An exciting addition is a unique performance that will introduce Sing the Change, an initiative by Laura Santoni that empowers youths via music and the arts.

The evening will be hosted by Katlego Maboe, host of magazine show Expresso.

Romantic, spellbound and unforgettable

Together with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO), conducted by Brandon Philips, these performances will create a romantic, spellbound and unforgettable evening.

Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, said: "We support and laud the efforts of the organisers of Valentine under the Stars, alongside the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and the Castle of Good Hope in their ambition to conceptualise and create a unique event that we trust will become an iconic Cape Town sporting and cultural experience."

"The inaugural Valentine under the Stars was a resounding success and our next concert will be even more memorable," added concert founder and organiser Barbara Lenhard. "We love bringing people together, and what better way to do this than with a magical night filled with love and romance. We created this event for those who truly want to see and experience something different, and this year we are making it even bigger and have a few special surprises in store for our guests."
