Northern Cape cyclist gets Argus dream

Piet Green, an employee of Hierbegin Farming for more than 20 years in Keimoes, Northern Cape, was prepared to cycle 800km there and back to take part in the 2013 Argus Cycle Race on 10 March. The 51-year-old Green is an avid cyclist who completed several cycle races on the hot Northern Cape roads.

During a conversation after a Dried Fruit Technical Service (DFTS) training session, he indicated that his dream was to complete the Argus. The training team thought it was a wonderful dream, but the distances would be tough to accomplish.

The team approached DFTS and FNB representatives with a request for help and assistance and both came to the party. FNB will sponsor his entry fees, transportation, lodging and bike clothing while DFTS will make sure that he finds his way during his first visit to Cape Town. Hierbegin Farming will morally support him when he tackles the Argus Cycle Tour.
