adidas proudly sponsors the South African Olympic Team

adidas, an Official NOCSA sponsor, will continue its support of the South African Olympic Team by equipping participants with the latest, technologically advanced competition gear for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, to be held 13-29 August 2004.

The involvement of adidas with the Olympic Games dates back to 1928 when adidas shoes were worn for the first time in this global sporting event. adidas will supply the Team with presentation and village wear for the duration of the games and adidas footwear will be supplied to athletes. With the climate at this year's Athens Games expected to be the hottest and most humid ever, competition gear will be made using adidas ClimaCool® technology, performance apparel engineered to keep an athlete's body at optimal body temperature at all times, regardless of the heat. The SA Olympic Team sprinters will also be using the revolutionary new adidas Formotion* sprint suit, which not only supports the runner's muscular system but also helps maintain the correct posture during running.

Through its commitment to helping athletes improve their performance, adidas also supplied the entire SA Team with sportswear during Operation Excellence, a programme designed to facilitate the adequate preparation of athletes and teams for the Games. adidas technology has been an essential part of many achievements at the Olympic Games for over 75 years.
