    Uys' Desperate First Ladies

Pieter-Dirk Uys will be bringing a brand new show,.Desperate First Ladies, to the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City Casino, on 6, 7 and 8 August, 2010, in celebration of Women's Day.

The Desperate First Ladies in question aren't just the many wives of South Africa's President, but also a long list of iconic women that ranges from Hillary Clinton and Grace Mugabe to Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. Uys's much-loved alter-ego, Evita Bezuidenhout, will naturally be at the head of the chorus line.

    The ghost of PW Botha

The selection of hilarious, satirical sketches in the show will have Uys also portraying his much-appreciated Jewish African Princess Nowell Fine, Cape Malay firebrand Mrs Petersen, Bergie Wilhelmina Opklim, and Evita's outspoken sister Bambi Kellermann. The ghost of PW Botha, recently seen in his Wilderness house, will also make a spooky appearance. There will be a special guest at every performance. Tannie will also autograph personal copies of her best-selling cookery book Evita's Kossie Sikelela after each show.

Performances take place at 8.3pm on 6, 7 and 8 August. Tickets are priced at R150. Book through Computicket or The Lyric Theatre Box Office on +27 (0)11 248 5000. Go to www.goldreefcity.co.za for more information.
