Media matters commentators sought

Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) is using its Facebook page to encourage people to engage in issues around media in South Africa and rewarding those who enhance and add value to media debates on hot topics by assigning them the title of media matters commentator (MMC).

The difference between it and other online media initiatives is that it is not advocating one particular point of view or position. Rather, all views are welcomed, indeed the more vigorous the debate the better and it's also not simply about 'liking' a Facebook post, or 'retweeting' a comment made on Twitter. Instead it encourages contributors to post their opinions, to tweet their views and to lend their voice to the media debate online, offline, or wherever they are.

It has almost 500 fans on Facebook and over 300 followers on Twitter and is promoting some of its most active contributors to the position of MMC and every Media Monday, it will add a new name to the list.

This week's MMC is Shaun Molokwane, "Media monitor, aspirant media researcher & analyst; sports and motoring fanatic; passionate about South Africa." For more go to Media Matters on Facebook.
