Profica concludes two multi-million retail projects

Two Profica-managed retail centres were officially opened in Nigeria and Zambia during the last week of November. The multi-million retail projects were the product of major investment by South African and international property investors operating in partnership with local stakeholders, and completed within budget and in record time.

As noted by the dignitaries who officially opened the retail developments in their respective countries, both centres were successfully concluded within impressively short timeframes. This sets a high bar for future retail developments in these geographic nodes.

Asaba Shopping Centre, situated in Nigeria’s Delta State, was developed by Resilient Africa Group, Nigerian-based Baysol Development Company and the Delta State Government. Resilient Africa Group appointed leading construction and property solutions company, Profica, as the project manager and tenant coordinator for the complex. The centre boasts Shoprite as its anchor tenant. It is anticipated that the shopping complex will drive sustainable economic growth in the region.

The Pylos Group, an international property development company with representation in Zambia, appointed Profica as the project manager of Kabulonga Centro Mall in Lusaka. The development is in response to an increasing demand for smaller convenience oriented centres in Zambia. The anchor tenants of the retail centre are Pick n Pay and Woolworths.

Profica’s MD in South Africa, Matthew Renshaw, says that the company’s experience of more than a decade in Africa, strongly positions it to take on projects for international developers. “A crucial requirement for major investors is to appoint a team that understands the local environment and is able to hit the ground running to deliver to anticipated timeframes. Beyond our headquarters in Johannesburg, Profica has offices in Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya, as well as teams in Zambia and elsewhere, that make it possible for us to offer strong service capability throughout the continent, with teams that are able to ensure localised solutions.

“Local insight and experience are fundamental to successful project completion. Each country has specific cultural and business contexts. We focus on building and transferring skills that take these specificities into account which results in regional and country teams that are equipped to provide consistently high-quality service to our clients.”

Since it was founded in 2005, Profica has grown and managed projects throughout Africa, offering expert development, project and construction management services to high-profile international and in country clients. It was recently rated the top project management company in South Africa by PMR.africa for the fourth time in six years.
