The celebration of Mexican food will offer the cuisine from 20 different food vendors along with a variety of tequilas, Mexican cocktails, piñata showdowns, a chilli eating competition, bull riding, and entertainment. The live entertainment will also offer a local lineup that includes Gangs Of Ballet, Desmond & The Tutus, December Streets, Jerry & The Bandits, and 4am.
Event organiser Danny Figueiredo comments, “Festival De Mexico is a day filled with great food, amazing music and entertainment the entire day. Expect to leave satisfied and a little drunk, so definitely Uber.”
Montecasino is the new setting for the increased demand of a bigger crowd looking to join the tequila celebrations and the Outdoor Event Arena allows for a 6,000-strong crowd to comfortably enjoy the day. According to Statista, South Africa ranks seventh by country as one of the leading export destinations of Mexican tequila in 2017, importing over 1.5 million litres of tequila and the only African country listed in the top 10.
