The theme and venue for the December costume party, taking place on Saturday, 16 December, will be announced at the Christmas in July event at the German Club in Gardens on the 28 July, rather than in October as it has been before.

Guests are encouraged to bring a present along if they can, which will be donated to the Red Cross Children’s Home.

Bigger, better and bolder

“We always listen to our MCQP fans. Many have expressed that they need more time to prepare their outfits, and especially as more and more out-of-towners are attending the event every year, they also need to properly plan their travel arrangements. And then, we’re going bigger, better and bolder than ever before, with a big part due to famed DJ and event organiser Candice Heyns joining our team for this year’s event,” said Ian McMahon, Director of MCQP.

Heyns, the executive project manager of MCQP, has extensively toured Europe, both as a DJ performer and assisting in arranging some of the biggest events in a variety of European countries before recently returning to the Mother City.

“For anyone ‘dreaming of a white Christmas’, they won’t be disappointed. We’ve got snow machines showering the entrance and one of the dance floors with snowflakes, and the venue is spectacularly decorated with over a 100 Christmas trees – even some hanging from the ceiling. So, if you’ve never seen snow, you have to be there – but of course, we didn’t forget our very own heritage in how we celebrate Christmas in SA, so the second dance floor will be a summer Christmas experience with all things green. Believe me, you’ll be blown away, and this event will only be a hint of what is coming in December for our main MCQP party,” says Heyns.

July Christmas party fever

She states that although the announcement of the theme and venue for MCQP 2017 will be one of the many highlights and main attractions of the evening, Christmas party fever will rule the night.

“One of the dance floors will be dedicated to commercial, high energy and progressive music. The other to deep house, disco and techno. We’re catering to all tastes. We’re using non-other than Funkion one for our main Hall and the Red Bull Sound system for our white winter wonderland,” adds Heyns.

“Whenever we host an event, we also want to give back to the community. Although Father Christmas will be walking around handing out random gifts to those attending, we also encourage attendees to bring a gift for a child that will be donated to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital,” continues McMahon.

The MCQP Christmas in July party will be filled with entertainment, including comedians, live acts, dancers, and top name local and international DJ’s.  “We don’t want to give too much away, but international DJ Groove from Thailand will be there, as well as DJs Douglas Olsen vs. Miss CJ, Tommy Gun, DYI and Beanovs Dave Irish. Also, the Trolley Dollies will be there in all of their dazzling glory,” states McMahon.

Tickets are available at R150 per person through nutickets – and everyone 18 years and older are invited to attend. Doors open at 8pm and the event will take place until 2am.
