Taylor scores a double with Lost City Mountain Bike Challenge victory

Cherise Taylor (Team USN) continued to show her versatility when she won the Cansa Lost City Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday, just a day after claiming the title in Saturday's road race at the same event.

Starting in the A Group with the other top men and women, Taylor took the lead from the gun and held it throughout to finish in a time of 1 hour 58 minutes for the 50km route, which contained a mixture of open roads and single track.

"We started in the front group and the pace was fast. The route was quick but quite challenging in places with rocks and thick sand. It was fun though," smiled a dusty-faced Taylor.

Second place went to Samantha Oosthuizen with 2011 Cape Epic champion, Karien van Jaarsveld (Team USN) rounding out the podium places. It was the second time Taylor has won both road and mountain bike races at a major event, following her Tour Durban 'double' in April 2011.

The 2011 Cansa Lost City Challenge was Taylor's fifth mountain bike race win of 2011 and the ninth in total for Team USN.
