Soulistic Fusion Trio win the Red Bull Beat Battle
Soweto locals the Soulistic Fusion Trio have recently won the Red Bull Beat Battle trophy at Walter Sisulu Square, Soweto. They beat Cape Town B-Boys, Ninja Turtles in the final.
The Sbhujwa crew went up against seven of the best dance crews from the past four instalments of Red Bull Beat Battle and were the only crew in the semi-finals to not have won the title before.
The night started off with a touching tribute to fallen friend and dancer Prince Mofokeng who passed away tragically from cancer earlier this year. His crew - Shakers and Movers - was part of the inaugural Red Bull Beat Battle in 2011.
The event again celebrated local street dance from B-Boying to Pantsula and everything in-between - each crew bringing their own unique flavour to the competition and lighting up the impressive stage. The rich history of the event and calibre of dancers meant the judging panel of Somizi Mhlongo, Lorna Maseko, Vouks and new addition to the panel, Lorcia Cooper, were mesmerised by their talent.
