VfB Stuttgart holds 2014 training camp in Cape Town

Verein für Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart (VfB Stuttgard), the German football club from Stuttgart Baden-Württemberg, have arrived in Cape Town to have their training camp until 16 January 2014, sponsored by the association football league, Bundesliga.

While in South Africa, the club will face Dutch team PEC Zwolle on 9 January 2014, local teams Supersport United on 11 January 2014 and Ajax Cape Town on 15 January 2014 in a series of friendly matches.

VfB Stuttgart had a hard-hitting first half of the season in 2013 with numerous loses to a few of the German league giants. This camp is set to allow the team to realise their errors and build a formula and a play strategy that will be of solid competition for the rest of the season.

"During our stay in Cape Town we hope to maximise the team's form for the upcoming season, with all the scheduled friendly games we should be able to reach the set objectives," said VfB Stuttgart's head coach Thomas Schneider.

    Enhance their strengths

The team is currently number 10 on the German log with 19 points, it has not been an easy first half of the season for them and they hope that through this training camp they will be able to rectify their mistakes and enhance their strengths which will set them apart from all other clubs in the league.

A number of young prospects will be arriving with the team including Robin Yalcin, Tim Leibold, Marvin Wanitzek, Arianit Ferati and Timo Baumgartl.
"The number of young players making this trip is proof of the direction the club is taking. We will be taking the youngest Bundesliga starting eleven of the season, and the youngest VfB starting eleven since 1987 - the third youngest starting team in the club's entire history," said Schneider.

The club hopes that this change in training camps and focus on young players paired with legends such as Cacau will bring about positive results in the second half of the season.
