The best of SA's winelands come to Joburg
"The aim of the show is to make wine accessible, so whether you're a wine connoisseur or a novice, there's something for everyone," said John Woodward, director of The Wine Show. Wine and chocolate from Lourensford; olives and wine from Morgenster; and guest appearances by DJs Sasha Martinengo and Ian F, are just a few of the free Wine Extra Theatre sessions that guests can look forward to at this year's show. For an additional R40, visitors can sample award-winning wines from the 2012 International Wine & Spirit Competition in tutored tasting sessions at the Wine Extra IWSC Gold Lounge.
"Sip 'n Ship" service
For those who plan on taking advantage of having SA's favourites, such as Saronsberg, Lanzerac, Diemersdal and Simonsig under one roof by stocking up, the Dawn Wing "Sip 'n Ship" service is available. Simply drop off your purchases for consolidation and collect them on your way out, or arrange for the wines to be couriered directly to your door. Good Fellas drivers will also be on stand-by for the last three hours of each show day offering complimentary service on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets are available in advance through Computicket (R120) or at the door (R140) and include a crystal tasting glass, all tastings, access to the Wine Extra Theatre and a map to help you navigate the show. Weekend passes are R220 per person and a 10% discount applies for groups of 10 or more. Students and pensioners who visit the Show on Sunday, 5 May also qualify for a 10% discount.
