Piccolo Mondo wins Lindt competition

The Piccolo Mondo restaurant, in Sandton's Michelangelo Hotel has won Lindt's "Sweetest Establishment" Valentine's Day Competition.

In the competition, several hand-picked restaurants countrywide showcased their gourmet talent by inventing their own Lindt chocolate-inspired "dish of love" to feature on the restaurant's menu during February.

Dynamic use of luxury ingredients

"It is an honour to present Piccolo Mondo with this award as the standard of cuisine in the competition was very high," said Lindt's marketing manager, Megan Coquelle. "The immense preparation and dynamic use of luxury ingredients were clearly evident in the thoroughly decadent and creative dishes at Piccolo Mondo."

Judged by head chocolatier Dimo Simatos, who has expert knowledge in the art of fine chocolate, Piccolo Mondo was awarded the accolade after presenting a series of detailed recipes using Lindt couverture dark chocolate as the premier ingredient in a menu that included a starter, main course and dessert, with an option of three dishes for each course.
