New performers at Vaudeville before Vegas

Ballance, a hand-to-hand strength act, has joined the line-up at Vaudeville, the 300-seater burlesque supper club located in Bree Street, Cape Town, for 10 weeks before moving on to Las Vegas.
New performers at Vaudeville before Vegas

Vaudeville has been entertaining patrons nightly with a combination of local and international acts, enjoyed over a three-course dinner created by Dish Food and Social.

The latest additions to the Vaudeville cast are Romanian performers Constantin Ciobotaru and Dan Tazlauanu who perform Ballance, a breathtaking hand to hand strength act that is to be seen to be believed and that literally has audience members gasping in their seats. The duo, who will be with the Vaudeville show until mid May 2010, studied gymnastics from the age of four under one of the most talented and dedicated gymnastics coaches. At the age of 18 they began to explore the more artistic side of gymnastics and over time, perfected their skilful act that demonstrates their exceptional physical control and grace.

The Penguin rules the floor

Produced by Will Hutton and Andrew Florenca of the Sunroom, the Vaudeville show is a true multi- genre entertainment experience. As audiences enter through the velvet curtains they step into a plush world of gaudy fantasy, where The Penguin rules the floor and the performers reign on stage. Compered by Irit Noble and with Aubrey Shelton as the Ringmaster, the line-up includes: world champion Bboys Jed and Duane Lawrence; tap dancers Peter Johnson and Nick Snow; dynamic acro adagio pas de deux couple Lisa Pridgeon and Daniel Bauer; KJ Haupt in a spectacular hula hoop fire act; the singing To Do Sisters; Chantal Nell on double rings; Lloyd Kandlin performing twice in a hilarious aerial comedy act as well as with Justine Whyte on the single trapeze. Singer Lu Chase will be making a guest appearance at the V Spot during the first two weeks of April and the five-piece band Jinx, whose electric symphonies combine balkan oompah and circus, will once again be taking people on a journey through the weird and the wonderful world that is Vaudeville.

The Fez Club

The venue also incorporates the Fez Club, which hosts legendary DJs, such as Dino Moran, Rob Taylor, Gren Forte, Nick Matthews, Richard Marshall and Andrew Florenca.

Performances run Tuesdays to Saturdays at 8.15pm with guests to be seated by 7.45pm. Tickets cost R350 each, and R395 for ringside tables and booths. The price includes a welcome drink, the show, a three-course meal and free entry into The Fez. Advance reservations are essential with all bookings via and +27 (0)21 419 9002. www.vaudeville.co.za.

Vaudeville and the Fez Club is located at 11 Mechau Street (off lower Bree Street) on the Foreshore in Cape Town. Ample on-street parking with security is available around the venue.
